How much does the service cost?
The monthly service cost is about $1 per day.  We can either send a monthly bill to be paid by check or we can bill your credit card.

Who installs the unit?
The unit requires virtually no installation.  You simply just plug it into an existing phone line and into the power outlet and you’re done.  It’s like plugging in a new phone!

What if I move?
The unit can be unplugged and taken with you.  Be sure to advise the monitoring center of your address change so they know where to send emergency services if needed.

How will I learn to use the system?
The unit is easy to use and we have a simple instruction sheet that tells you how to use it.  You can always call our help line as well.

How far away from the home unit will the button work?
The range as noted from the factory is more than adequate for most home applications.  It will even work from outdoors.  The button should be tested once you get it home in order to verify range.

How can I be sure the system is working?
The system can be tested at any time by merely calling our Monitoring Center (toll free) and advising them that you wish to test the system.  This way, when you press the button we know it is a test and will act accordingly.

Can the system be used if there is an Internet connection being used on the same telephone line?
Yes.  DSL filters should be used if broadband connections are being used.

Will calling for help with my Aegis system cause me to have higher telephone bills?
No.  The use of the system is toll free and will not result in any additional charges to your phone bill.

Can I have the payment charged directly to a credit card?
Yes.  This can be set up very easily with Customer Service.

How does the Monitoring Center get my information?
Enclosed in the kit that you will receive is a simple form that gives the Monitoring Center all of the information we need to service you.  Once completed you can mail it or FAX it to us.

How does the Aegis Medical Alert work?

Are there any additional fees that I need to worry about?
There are no additional fees such as activation or setup fees.  In fact the monthly rate does not change even if additional call buttons or other sensors are added.

Is there a warranty?
There is a 2-year factory warranty from on the product.

Is my area covered by the Aegis Central Station?  Where are they?
Aegis Wireless has central stations covering the entire United States and Canada and they are operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Each has backup systems that operate even during power outages.

Does the unit have battery backup?
The base station has a rechargeable backup battery that lasts up to 32 hours in the event of a power outage.  It is rechargeable once the power returns.

The call buttons have batteries that last 4 years or more and can be easily replaced by a watch repair person.

Can the call button be worn in the shower or bath?
Yes.  The call buttons are water-resistant and can be worn during bathing.

Do I need a new phone line if I buy an Aegis Medical Alert?
No.  You may use your existing phone line for this system.

How long does it take for the system to call for help once the button is pressed?
The unit automatically dials for help when the button is depressed and a Help Advisor is usually on line in less than 30 seconds.

Are there other accessories and features that I should know about?
